Frequently asked Questions for individuals and couples seeking therapy in Seattle, WA
-
Individual therapy sessions are 53 minutes and are $200 per session.
Payment is due at the time of service. I can provide a superbill upon request if you’d like to explore out-of-network reimbursement with your insurance.
My fees reflect the level of training, experience, and care I bring to this work, as well as the time and energy that go into each client beyond the session itself. This includes ongoing education, case preparation, documentation, and consultation. I intentionally keep my caseload at a level that allows me to be present, thoughtful, and deeply engaged. Charging this rate supports high-quality, ethical, and sustainable care, and allows me to prioritize depth and individualized attention over volume.

Couples therapy is a different kind of work than individual therapy. In sessions, we’re not just focusing on one person—we’re holding space for two people, two nervous systems, and the relationship between them.
This means:
Working with real-time communication and emotional dynamics
Helping partners slow down, feel understood, and repair disconnection
Supporting both people while staying attuned to the relationship as a whole
Because this work is more complex, sessions often benefit from being longer than a standard therapy hour. Longer sessions allow us to move through difficult moments with more care and depth, rather than rushing or cutting things short when something meaningful is unfolding.
-
A good fit in therapy usually feels like being able to show up as yourself without pressure to perform or have everything figured out. You should feel respected, heard, and safe enough to be honest. I work best with people who are open, curious, and willing to integrate insights and skills outside of sessions, since real change happens both in and beyond the therapy room.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation, which gives us space to explore whether my style and approach feel right for you. This is a chance to ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and trust your intuition about next steps.

I’m in the process of moving away from insurance panels (Regence, Aetna, Premera). However, I can accept these insurance panels until my end date.
Insurance companies often place restrictions on care, documentation, and session structure. Working outside of insurance allows for more flexibility, privacy, and individualized treatment.
For those of you who want to use insurance benefits — I can provide you with a receipt called a “superbill.” Your insurance company may be able to reimburse you for out-of-network costs once you send them this receipt.
Many clients are surprised with how much they get back from their insurer, ranging anywhere between 30% to 100%.
-
A superbill is a document I can provide that includes the information insurance companies need if you’d like to request out-of-network reimbursement. You submit it directly to your insurance provider, and they determine if and how much they’ll reimburse you based on your plan.
-
The easiest way is to call your insurance company directly and ask if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. You can also check your online insurance portal. They can tell you whether reimbursement is available, how much they cover, and if there’s a deductible you need to meet.
-
When you call your insurance provider, you can ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits for therapy?
What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
Do I need to meet a deductible before reimbursement begins?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?
What documentation do you require for reimbursement?
How do I submit a superbill?
How long does reimbursement usually take?
-
Payment is collected at the time of session through a secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. Accepted payment methods include major credit and debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
-
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are charged at the full session rate. This policy helps protect the time I set aside for you and the consistency of our work together.
-
There’s no set timeline for therapy. Some people come in for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term work to heal deeper patterns, especially those rooted in attachment or trauma. We’ll check in regularly about your goals, progress, and what feels right for you. Therapy is collaborative, and you’re always in control of the pace and length of your care.

YES! A large body of research suggests that online therapy can be just as effective as in person therapy for a wide range of concerns. What tends to matter most is not the room you are sitting in, but the quality of the relationship, the consistency of sessions, and whether you feel safe enough to be honest.
Many clients are surprised by how much they like online therapy. The flexibility helps. There is no commute, no traffic, and no need to reorganize your whole day to make it to an appointment. For a lot of people, it also removes a major barrier, childcare. Instead of finding coverage, doing drop offs, or bringing stress and guilt into the session, you can meet from home and keep the logistics simpler.
For some people, being in a familiar space makes it easier to open up. Meeting from somewhere private and comfortable can lower the pressure and help the conversation feel more natural.
Online therapy can also support consistency. When sessions fit more smoothly into your life, you may be less likely to cancel, rush, or arrive already drained. Over time, showing up regularly matters.
Online therapy is not the right fit for everyone. Some people prefer being in the same physical space, and that preference is valid. The goal is to choose the format that helps you show up and engage, rather than one that feels like another hurdle.
If you are unsure, that is completely okay. Many people do not know what works best for them until they try it.
